As suddenly as she came, she had to go. Moshi, Chomel, Xiao Mao Mi , or whatever pet names we had for her, this kitty was a constant fuzzy ball of entertainment when life @ the outlet got drabby. It started out with a kitten just calling out for some food, hiding in one of the potted plants, mewing for attention.
A little apprehensive of humans, she backed off whenever we came near, or sometimes scuttle away just at the sight of certain people. Soon, she got used to us and started playing catch whenever we went out to take an order, or serve them up. She would hide in a corner and run up to us just to get her claws on our ankles and ran away when she thought that we were going to turn around and get her. She would also try to catch our fingers from behind the glass door, stretching her paw through the tiny gap, making us laugh.
Then she got so used to human contact that she begged for food and attention from some of our customers, some of which weren't cat-friendly. She would also try to get into the cafe, but we set boundaries (albeit with a bit of chemical help) and she knew her place. It wasn't always fun and games with her. She tormented our resident gardener, who wanted to murder her whenever she started digging in the beds of freshly planted flowers. Then the day came when an intolerable bitch decided to complain about everything but the kitchen sink, and so our operations manager got wind of kitty and told us to get rid of her.
After days of trying to find a home for her among our friends, it was down to relocating her, or sending her to the SPCA. But as luck, and a few days of procrastination, would have it, a family comes by and falls in love with her, just in time to bring her home and save her from a horrible end.
