Cruel Intentions

I think my colleagues have gone a little too far with some of their antics, and some need to rethink their attitudes towards the new trainee.

Even though the trainee might have done something which all may not be too happy about, I don't think there is a need to boycott the person in general.

If we're sharing food, why are you being so mean as to leave her out? The main thing is that we share the work load... so why bother leaving this person out, it'll end up with u taking on more because u're all well fed, while the trainee's energy is depleting fast. Don't act like she's got some disease either. Share work, share joy, share food, share drinks.

And checking the person's belongings when she's on her break is going a bit overboard too. Seriously... you can check her apron, but don't go to the extent that you want to open her locker!

Somehow I'm Disappointed.

A Night In The Museum

It was some strange event held by the museums to encourage people to appreciate art by allowing free entry to museums for the 2-night event. Part of it also gave a small history lesson to the younger generation about their parents' childhood games. The other part was about having fun - printing art on t-shirts, getting strange photos taken, and having a party in the park.

The highlight of the night for me, and I guess for the many other patient photographers, was the changing facade of the National Museum of Singapore. The normal, and rather boring, building was used as a giant screen to cast a multitude of colours that changed the concept of the museum's exterior with every slide change.

Not as impressive, but equally captivating, was the Singapore Art Museum's changing exterior. It didn't have as many colour changes as the N.M.S. but was still beautiful if you can capture the whole view. I guess not many people ended up here as they were all stopped by the party in the park between the 2 museums.

I Can Lose Almost Anything....

...but one thing I realise I cannot lose is the bunch friends I hold so dear. The group of people who either join me or instigate the craziness that give joy to our drabby lives.

As usual, the mind started racing because of past issues, getting me down, and a friend had to come online to chat, making me realise I need a drink (and a stiff one at that!). Nothing strange really, until the realisation that all the friends I used to party with are gone. Not that they died or anything... they're just no longer within reach. They all used to be a text message away.. "Hey Lox tmr nite, 11pm @ CQ taxi stand?"... and I'd at least get a bunch of people just meeting up and having a good time.

Now this person I was talking to was one of them... and it's not that he doesn't party... it's just that now he gets the party going, and it's just different. So other than Mr DJ there, the best party buddy is now studying in Australia, another moved to the US.... lost in her own woods. Then there is the one I work with... who seems to be growing older than me by the minute... becoming an old fuddy-duddy.

But I guess the worst of all is losing one of the best partying buddies to stupidity. I need someone who can replace the good memories... make better ones so I can forget about the fun I had with the biggest idiot that was once in my life.

Anyone interested?

Snake On The Clothesline

The voices were irritating me from my sleep and I woke up realising it was the busybody of our apartment level asking my mom some questions, and the dog didn't help to the situation with his whining. I heard her asking my mom why she called the police.

The police? Who is sneaking around? What looks rubbery? Or is there a robbery?

WILL YOU ALL SHUT UP?!?!

Then another neighbour came by and the picture was painted more clearly..... My mom found a snake on the clothesline, which, in her blindness, thought it was a rubber toy. So to play it safe, she called the police who would have the basic equipment to get it. By this time I've given up on going back to sleep.

Next thing I know I hear more voices and then I hear a message coming through on a walkie-talkie. Oh the cops are here... Will they save the day? What I heard next was clinking of metal and a collective gasp from the 3 ladies watching the event unfold. Hmmm... what happened?

I finally get myself out of bed and head out to check out the big fuss. The neighbours have gone back to their homes and my mom was already playing with her DVD recorder. I asked what happened to the snake and she told me it flew away. FLEW AWAY??? Yeah, the snake got scared and jumped out, probably landing in the grass and made a quick escape. By the time the cops went down 5 floors, the snake was no where to be seen.

Anyhoo... asked if she got pictures, and when she said she did... The idea for this post came into mind. So here are pics of the snake that got away:
