Last Passenger

I don't know why is it that taxi drivers these days are so desperate that they would pick up passengers even while ferrying their friends or family home. It might be alright to them and their family/friend that they pick up one last passenger who's destination is along the route to their's but it does get kinda weird for the passenger.

First occasion for me was when I needed a cab home in the middle of the night and I saw one coming my way with the sign lit up that said it was heading towards my home. So I flag it down and it stops right next to me and I just ask if he'd take me. First he tells me that he's actually fetching his friend and apologises to me. He then changes his mind and asks me to get in, almost leaving his friend behind. Then he asks both his friend and I if we mind sharing the cab. That moment was just strange, confusing and rather interesting as well.

Next incident happened just moments ago when one driver, who was ferrying his wife (just to make it easier) somewhere, stopped when I flagged him down. I mean if you went pass me and I saw you had a passenger in the front seat I'd understand why you didn't stop. Instead, he slows to stop infront of me and once I realised he had a passenger, I tried flagging another cab. He then winds the window down and asks me to come in and apologises that I have to share it with his wife. The other cab just kinda went off so I guess it left me with the option to wait on another one or just take the one waiting for me. So I get in and just feel odd again.

These are 2 recent cases that actually triggered a memory I had of another driver, also ferrying his wife somewhere, who actually stopped to take my mom, my sis and myself to somewhere. It wasn't late, dark or raining heavily and I don't even know why the guy stopped but he did the very same thing. Thank goodness we were young and smaller in size, or else it would've been a really uncomfortable ride.

I really don't mind taking these cabs that are just going off duty to take me home with their friend or family member inside. It is really strange, and gets uncomfortable when they start yapping with each other and you're like a busybody, listening in on the conversation.

Don't Know If This Is Legal & I Think They Shouldn't Charge Me The Full Price!
