Is You Ego That Pathetic?

It seems like in recent times that I have noticed a few things about the people around me, and they have started to bug me a little. Perhaps it's always been there, and that I've not cared as much, or that I didn't let it bother me.

Who or what really has changed? I'm not exactly sure.

What I have noticed, however, is this strange need to be recognised and acknowledged. Of course everyone wants a little recognition for their work, but to the point where you seem to want to make sure that you get recognised for your efforts, then it's more on the lines of vanity.

So it's fine if you want to get in on the action, be within frame in the background when the camera focuses on the presenters in the front, toot your own horn once in a while.

However, to continuously insist that someone ensures that your name is mentioned, that your effort for that day was pointed out, despite knowing that the conversation is probably interrupting more important matters, is asking a little too much is it not?

Perhaps you feel intimidated by someone else? Shouldn't that be a cue to step up your game then?

How Do They Do It

Sometimes you come across certain articles online that just seem to understand what life is about. All the ups, downs, in betweens that have made your life what it is has somehow been miraculously written out in an article by someone you have never met. Then you think perhaps your life is just not that unique after all. Perhaps is it that the article is so generalised that it can mean anything to anyone?

However, reading through the articles, I wonder how much the writer has gone through in life to have written such a number of posts and how old the writer must be. Maybe their lives were compacted; made interesting in a short span of time so that they could write about it for the rest of the world to read even though we wouldn't consider them to have really "lived through the ages".

Earrings

Sometimes I wonder if I had pierced my ears, what amount of earrings and the kinds of earrings I would have amassed.

I know the answer would have been "a lot" along with, "lost a lot as well". Although I wonder what kinds I would have got? I see cartoon characters, food-related ones, maybe a few shiny ones for wedfing dinners, but no long dangling things for some reason.

However, just the thought of earrings gives me a horrible feeling.

Hot Topic

Read this article (originally by Ruby Browne) and reposted it on Facebook and it ended up being one of the quickest reposted link, and possibly the most reposted one on my feed. Other than the fact that I do have a lot of friends who are or were in the coffee industry, the real reason is that the article definitely hit every nail on the head. Although the article is written by someone who is basing the ten points on the culture in America, the issues seem like a worldwide problem, or perhaps a problem with people in first-world countries.

Point #5 and #7 are usually by people who try to act like they know everything about coffee as they transition from traditional coffeeshop-style coffee (kopitiam kopi). Kopitiam coffees are definitely cheaper as they firstly use cheaper beans, and they basically leave a giant sock of coffee that is slowly thickening in a pot throughout the day, diluting the coffee with scalding hot water when you order a cup. That's how you get your extra hot coffee at a relatively low price starting from one dollar. However, these set of people go into espresso-based coffee joints and hope they get the same thing but don't realise that even the milk used is different.

Point #10 is obviously something that has gotten worse in recent times. I understand sometimes someone happens to call just as you need to communicate with the counter staff, what I don't understand is why you can't ask the other person to wait for a minute. If you know what you want to order, you would have it down in less than thirty seconds, with only the staff asking for your name. Another way would be to tell the other party that you'll call them back or just let it be a missed call. You are taking a break with coffee, take a break from your phone too.

Point #6 is very common, and even though Starbucks is one of the bigger names, why would you think that Starbucks' drinks menus are copied by everyone. I did have fun when people came in ordering like they would usually do in a Starbucks and I'd just act like they were talking alien. There is a reason why every coffee joint has their own blend, and their own menu of drinks. Other than the standard coffee drinks, specials are suited to the cafe's own signature coffee blend. Even coffee shots are made differently and that is why some people are die-hard fans of only one coffee joint.

These are the few that got me giggling while reading the article, and I bet most of my friends as well. Every repost had a discussion as to which point was the most irritating, and it brought back loads of memories. If I ever get to start a cafe, I'd definitely print this article out really big and stick it on the wall.

Cooking Tattoos

Saw an article about these temporary recipe tattoos and I love the whole idea of it. I hope they do go into production and start selling cool recipe sets. It also gives me an idea of what tattoo I might get should I ever get one. Hahaha!

Where Can I Get A Plate Of That?

Reading the headline of this article, I first had the thought about how stupid this person is. However, as I gave it a bit more thought, I started to wonder where I could go have a plate of that extra spicy fried rice. Sadly, he can't remember the name of the shop and so I can't really find it. Now I'll just have to settle for my mom's fried rice, which is also spicy, but I've never had it burn my mouth for over an hour.

On The Train To Weymouth

Back in London and were now headed back to Weymouth to stay with Grandpa for the last bit of our vacation. It's gonna be a long train ride, and I think we're all gonna sleep through it.

Sailing To Paris

Heading onto a boat to cross the English Channel and visit Disneyland Paris and the city… Croque Madame here I come!

Opening New Doors

Got the keys to the new apartments today and after 2 hours of signing papers, we got a bag with all the important documents and a smaller pouch with all the keys. That's the keys for a 3-room apartment. Imagine the amount of keys for a 5-room. Off to go test them all and check for defects. 

Changing Things Up

After cleaning out some blogs, I decided to play around with some of the templates, wondering what new ones blogger might have come up with. To my delight, I found one that allows me to add pages to a central blog, creating a look like they all fit into one website. So now I'm mucking around with a tester and I'm hoping it can turn out as nicely as it 's forming in my mind.

Questionable

Are men more willing to photograph outdoors in the nude than women?
I think it's partially due to the fact that men only have one bit to hide should there be any emergency to cover up.
But I wonder, if there was no fee for the model, how many of each gender would a photographer really get.

Clearing Stuff Out

I don't know what got into me the other day and I decided to clear some blogs I had created. Looking at the blogs, I realised I like having things in their own separate corners, and that gives a problem when it comes to space. Good thing then for blogs being online, as well as sites like Pinterest where I can keep boards of ideas I have. To think of the million magazine cut outs we would be keeping if sites like that never exist.

Anyway, after deciding which blogs to delete, I noticed the first 2 were blogs that were shared with friends. It was also the reason they were deleted as most of them no longer blogged. So why bother holding on to something no one was interested in? It also taught me that if I ever wanted to start a business, I'd be better off just going at it alone. 

I think, however, I might like the idea of having guest posts once in a while.

Then came the question about deleting the blogs where I've been adding tons of photos. I haven't gone into my Flickr account for quite a while, then came the mess with adding the photos through blogger. So now I'm swinging back and forth about those blogs. 

As I'm now using the mobile version to publish this post, I realised that I had some really strange blog ideas 10 years back. More of which definitely needs to be deleted, and probably an update for 2 of them. 

Off To Babysit Some Dogs

Sis wants to celebrate her 20th birthday in style and asked if I could go over to help babysit her 2 fur balls while she goes of with Brendan to Bali. Since I have nothing better to do, and my visa is still valid… I'm off!

Christmas And A Wedding To Cater For

Heading to Perth with Grandpa, Mom and Dad to celebrate Christmas with the sister and new brother-in-law. Then it's also a wedding reception after for the people in Perth who missed the actual one. Lots to cater for. I live for such things… Can't Wait!

Adding A New Member To The Family

Going off to Koh Samui for a secret plan but I think most can guess from the title. Hopefully I don't have too much fun that I forget to come back to reality. TTFN Singapore!

Time To Clear Out

Decided to clear all the drafts from the challenge I didn't do and call it a failure. Was fun while it lasted but poetry is still not something I like nor can wrap my head around.

Something Noticed

Went to a doggie clothes blog/online store and was happily looking through the stuff. Then I happen to flip it down enough to view the people who "liked" the site on Facebook and realise that the profile pictures of the ones that liked it all seem to look the same. Not only that, they liked to do the same dumb "blow up ur cheeks and eyes to look cute" look - and it was not only girls. OMG EWW!

The Voices May Not Be Real, But They Have Some Pretty Good Ideas

And one of these ideas is to try out some molecular gastronomy experiments. But first, I need a little kit. So if anyone finds a kit they think is good, do point it out, especially if I can buy it in Singapore! I've got to go get me a lab coat, some goggles and some rubber gloves! So excited even with no kit to play with yet.

Looking For New Eyes

Uncle Dennis suggested going to Johor to get a new pair of glasses quickly and cheaply, so since I was off (or planned to be), Mom and I are heading replace my scratched up pair.
