Just A Little Off The Top Please....

Well not really.

After getting my head shaved the last time, the hairstylist was confident I could wear a short hairstyle as well. So I had been contemplating getting a short hairstyle for a few months and found a few photos online that I was interested in.  Got a second opinion from Adi, who saw this picture and said get that!

So managed to book an appointment yesterday, got in, showed Oscar the picture and got my hair shaved off. I think at one point he actually used the same shaver I use on Barkley for my sideburns.

Anyway, I think he did a really good job, and more importantly, as fast one. Apparently, no one, other than whoever I showed the first picture to knew what I was going for, so I looked so different that my mom couldn't even recognise me at Burger King.

Dad always had his "what stupid hairstyle is that?" comment, but then he doesn't have enough on his head to do anything stylish.

My sis thinks I might end up looking like a lesbian.

But most importantly is that my mind is much cooler, which I think is why I probably can sleep well tonight.

My Claws Are Out

It's the second day in the house, dad and I decided not to take the car, but rather stay at home get settled in. The house needed a clean up, and dad was happy to wash and sweep, while I tried to cook the head cold away. The house was at a nice temperature, but the floors were cold and didn't help my headache, so out came my claws as a nice padding between my sensitive soles and the icy cold floor. Now I just need to keep the dogs away from chewing my feet.

Money Laundering

I've been hearing coins being swished around in a pot lately and I decided to ask my dad what he was up too, getting up every few hours, swishing coins around in some solution he made quietly in the kitchen. I find out that he's been trying to clean old coins from all the from and tarnish they've accumulated over time.

This little money laundering job did prove useful as Australian, European and English coins were found, just in time for the dog sitting trip. The coins also did look a lot more shiny after their washing.

8 Gifts That Cost Almost Nothing At All

I spotted this in the gas station's toilet...of all places to spot something nice and thought-provoking:

1. THE GIFT OF LISTENING:

But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.

2. THE GIFT OF AFFECTION:

Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.

3. THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER:

Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4. THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE:

It can be a simple "Thanks for your help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, hand-written note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

5. THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT:

A simple and sincere, "You look great in green," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6. THE GIFT OF A FAVOUR:

Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

7. THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE:

There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

8. THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION:

The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, "Hello" or "Thank You!"

So what gift have you given today?

I Think I'm Done

Well, I guess I'm happy with how the blog looks. It's simple enough and shows exactly what it's all about.

Now all I have to figure out is how to change the background for my travel blog.

Time For A Slight Change

under-construction

Finally getting down to changing the look of this blog. Going to keep it as simple as possible and less cartoonish. Guess maybe I'm trying to make it reflect more of the person I am now. Only problem is I'm not really good at this whole html, css, xml, xhtml (blah blah blah) that the new blogger layout is using. I need help, and Homer^ doesn't cut it. Hope it doesn't take too long!

It's The End Of The World!!

Be afraid... be very afraid....

"Of what?" you might ask.

Well.. be afraid of today if you believe the things being sent around in emails and of people's predictions the natural phenomenon will have on the world.

The first was the email about a tsunami hitting a few countries, and asking everyone to stay away from beaches. Well other than this email being very vague about the exact locations that will be "badly hit" by the tsunami, it does include a predicted location of the earthquakes. Now if the earthquake locations are true, and the tsunami is supposedly starting from that area, it will be one giant tsunami to hit all the way to Australia and India. Even with the unpredictability of water, if it does affect all the places listed, that tsunami would be big enough to wash the whole of Singapore. So soap up and get your life jackets on just in case.

Next would be the effect that the solar eclipse will have on the world today as predicted by the astrologer.

"Mumbai astrologer Raj Kumar Sharma predicted "some sort of attack by (Kashmiri separatists) Jaish-e-Mohammad or Al-Qaeda on Indian soil" and a devastating natural disaster in Southeast Asia.
An Indian political leader could be killed, he said, and tension between the West and Iran is likely to increase, escalating into possible US military action after September 9, when fiery Saturn moves from Leo into Virgo.
"The last 200 years, whenever Saturn has gone into Virgo there has been either a world war or a mini world war," he told AFP
."

Honestly, I think what he said just gave the separatists/terrorists an idea of what to do today.

So what are we in for today?

Since he said the attack will be on Indian soil, and it's Iran that's going to be dealing with tension, I don't think we're in for a mini-war on our end. But the devastating natural disaster? Could he have received the email too? Is he referring to the tsunami? If so, like I said before, remember your life jackets today!

Great Freebies With My New PS3

So I had this deal with Syndyk (when he moved to his new place with his sis) that if he bought a flat screen lcd tv, I'll get the PS3, and we'll share the fun. Then after all the rental agreements were settled, Syndyk was finally happy on the discount he was getting on the tv and put his money where is mouth is. After we got the tv (soyes... 1/6 of it is mine), it was time I got the PS3.

When we got to Funan to check out a really sweet deal, we found out that they had sold the last console, and won't be bringing in anymore. So off we went to find a better deal and nearly got conned into one that seemed quite good, but I just didn't like the games I HAD to purchase to get the discount off the console. Good thing they said cash purchases would get a discount and it was an instant escape from the clutches of an evil saleman who tried to be all "legal" showing magazine endorsements. PHOOOEY!

Anyhoo... we checked out a store just opposite, actually looking at the games and realised they had a really good deal going on. It was almost the same as the shop before, but the choices of games was limited to everything they had on the shelf, offered a further discount on the cables we needed for the hdmi tv, and it was actually cheaper. Furthermore, the stuff there was cheaper. So we chose all the games we wanted, got the extra accesories and because of the bill we racked up, got a membership to the store. The store didn't stop pleasing us... on top of our discounted purchase, they threw in loads of freebies... although it probably came as a package... but useful freebies nonetheless.

Take a look at some really cute stuff:

Confessions Of Someone Under The Influence

Ok... if this post seems inappropriate or has too many spelling errors, please not that it is written when I was highly intoxicated with alcohol. Though it seems from the first sentence I am to be able to correct myself as I go, I shall not be responsible for anything else that follows.

Honestly, being intoxicated isn't a very fun feeling for someone who values control in her life. Although, control obviously is lacking at the moment, but somehow I managed. My eyes can't seem to focus on any one particular thing, but I'm sorta typing blind at the moment, correcting as I go.

Being back home and in the comfort of my bed seems to be pleasant and good. OH MY GOD! I can't seem to make a simple sentence sound good to my head. But at least they sort of make sense. I know someone is definitely laughing now... and no I'm not going to edit this when I'm totally sober.

I think this should be a lesson for me if it actually turns out horrible... or a nice insight to how I am when my brain only registers half of what I'm thinking.

I thank Syndyk for being such a great sport... and I hate Eddie, but I love him all the same, for making me reach this point of oblivion.

And for those who help me get up.. thanks... but I really needed u all to just let go of my arms... I just tripped, and everyone made it a big deal. Oh well... and yes... I really just tripped. It happens to the best of us. Even those that have never touched a drop of alcohol. Gawd.... I'm not that delicate and I can take a fall... and I think the ice thrown by Diana to my forehead hurts more than anything right now. Gee... Thanks Diana... if I get a bump on my head later ... I know who to blame.

Minutes After The S'pore GP Practice

I'm now reporting, LIVE (@ time of post), this time away from the Singapore F1 Grand Prix race circuit.... faaaaaar away from the circuit.

The practice sessions are about to end and cars are already showing off, whizzing by quick and noisily, drivers hoping to be the first Singapore F1 driver.

It started with a Mazda, grunting as it zipped by, tearing through the small road next to where I'm seated.

Right after the session ended, a Lamborghini makes its flashy exit to the road and flies to the other end of the road in no time. A few minutes later and a some car with a spoiler zooms past, making a whole load of noise, interrupting the silence.

F1 fever gripping the nation? I think so too...

And to the idiot that makes a whole load of noise around my area around 3am in the morning, watch out, you might find something in your exhaust if you keep the noise up.

Funny Commercial

I wonder who came up with the whole idea, probably someone behind the actual commercial, but other than Apple, who actually cares? This is funny... and I'm sure there's someone out there who uses it for just that kind of content. Mine has yet to be filled and I think I'll just add this commercial to the list just for shits and giggles.

Living Will

My Living Will... with reference to a previous morbid post

I, Christiana, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass Secondary school Science if their lives depended on it, or lawyers/doctors interested in simply running up the bills. If a reasonable amount of time passes, and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:

Chocolate
Peppermint On Ice
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Cold Beer
Chocolate
Pasta Aglio Olio
Seafood
Chocolate
Any Food
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Coffee
Pepper
Chocolate
Ice cream
Cup of tea
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Sex
Chocolate

It should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes, and call it a day.

Lost Me Phone

Lost my phone today as I got out of the cab rushing to work. The bloody driver was in a rush too.. and sped off before I can get a good look at his number. Anyhoo, I'm not sad about losing the phone, just irritated that I lost some numbers that I have no idea how to get back at the moment. The phone was the least of my problems, being almost 3 yrs old and having been sent through torture tests. Recently it went free-falling without a parachute, cracking it's head till it kinda sticks out and won't stay down. Later on it decided to go swimming in the sink of water. Well, it was bound to die sooner or later, so good luck to the bugger who actually picks it up.

Anyhoo... to anyone who's reading this and wondering why I haven't replied to your messages today, now you know. I should be contactable at the same number by tomorrow. And to those who get stupid calls due to my phone being lost, I apologise for the shit you have to go through but then I guess you know how to best handle it if they party is dumb enough to let u know their number.

Whoopi!

Got to drive my uncle's car today... Whoohoo! Thank goodness it was a short ride... cos he was kinda getting irritating asking me to slow down. Well, it's his car and I bet his heart almost stopped the few times I went a little faster than he expected. Heh... driving at night ain't that bad.

Who's gonna loan me their car next?

Free & Easy

After a really stressful month, I'm finally free from all the issues that held me down, that diverted my attention from everyday life, and from the people around me. I realised that people have told me things, or I've told them things, during that period of time, and I seem to remember them very vaguely. Worst of all, right when the assignments were due (or so I thought), my body got attacked by that menacing stomach virus, creating more problems. Now that I'm done with all the datelines and tests, I'm still left picking up some pieces, as well as starting anew on other aspects of life.

Soon all the problems faced in class with the essays will start again, but it'll be different this time since we at least know what we should be looking for. Unlike the last semester, where we were basically going into the library like 2 mountain tortoises, walking around slow and totally at a lost with what we were supposed to do. One thing though, Amy and I gave up on AP102, deciding that it would be a better option to just try it all over again instead of cracking our heads to finish the 2nd essay. Rather good choice, as it left me sometime to explore myself before the next term, which I haven't done in a while.

Whoopididoo!
