Breaking Some Rules....

So after about a month of tiredness, headaches, flying around the world and lack of proper sleep, Shirley (one of the last few remaining kindergarten...19 years!!!... friends.. and one of the closest few) and I FINALLY visited the Asian Civilizations Museum to view the exhibit that she was so eager to visit (She being Christian... I mean it in the gd way!). For me... I just wanted to look at the model of the Vatican and learn stuff.... and learn I did!

Start of our little journey... in the MRT

First off, being 2 mountain tortoises, we walked around the whole museum looking at all the stuff (relics? exhibits? what do u call those things in museums anyway?) on display. Not all are as old as you'd think museum things are, some are items from hilltribes in Thailand still running about. When we bought our tickets, we were told by the staff that the exhibit we were looking forward to was on level 2. So there we go bounding up the stairs to find ourselves looking at knick-knacks found in graves, Buddhist beliefs, statues of Buddha, Hmong tribal clothes, Vietnamese pottery, Malay wedding jewellery, big statues of the Taoist gods and Chinese manuscripts. One exhibit was rather creepy as u had to press the button and it would show a man in the background and how the exhibited stuff was worn. It reminded us both of the chinese funerals where the picture of the deceased head is put on a chair with the rest of it represented in clothes.

Then thinking we saw the whole of level two, Shirley was starting to complain about wasting $8 to look at all that and not one bit about Christianity. Both thought it was odd and eventually found the map which led us to realise that the Taoist gods of death/hell (well I forgot which) were actually pointing towards it (one using his long tongue). Over an hour before we got to the entrance which stated very clearly NO PHOTO TAKING!!

This was before the sign so it doesn't count!

After an hour of searching what do u do? Take a break after you've posed for photos!

Checking her photos...
She's single. Anyone interested? Must love dogs

Once we were rested (well a minute leg break) we headed into the "blind people's section" of the museum. Not that everything was in braille, just that everyone seem to have to put thier bloody face just an inch above the facts, or have thier fingers guide their eyes, to read it. Helloooo... if I can read it standing half a meter away, why can't you? It'll let everyone read the fact and look at the item at the same time... but nooooo... bloody HOGS!

Anyhoo... I got a pic of the first item you see in the exhibit. It was a marble piece carved into a picture of the 12 apostles, or something, and someone (not sure if it was Jesus.... my memory is crap). Couldn't get it nicely as I wasn't using a proper cam, and I had to try and be discreet.

Try figuring it out, there's more than 13 heads there though.

Walking around, you'll see that the items were dug out from or around graves, paintings, scultures and the slightly more modern stuff like the Pope's clothes. There was this one exhibit with angel sculptures holding items used in the Passion ("Suffering" in latin) of Christ. There was the cross, the hammer, the stick with a cloth, the spear (Holy Lance), a cup (the Holy Chalice) and the Crown of Thorns.
  • The cross which he was nailed onto
  • The hammer symbolising the nails hammered into his hands and feet
  • The cloth that was dipped into vinegar for him to drink, instead of water, to humiliate him
  • The spear that was pierced through his side
  • The cup used to collect his blood
  • The crown was made to humiliate him, that was put on his head
Ohhh big hat of cleverness to me! I don't know why that bit I can remember while the information of the marble I couldn't.

The tours started and that's when I got rather irritated, especially with that angmoh guide who always contradicted words. You hear her say that she won't be talking much and the next thing u know, she's yapping away like she was fighting for her pay. (Long complaint sentence ensues)Worse part of this was when she mentioned that the area she was abt to bring them through is rather small, and so won't talk much, and then YAP YAP YAP right at the start, all the way to the end, stopping right at the end of the tunnel to yap a whole lot more about a painting, blocking the way to the other exhibits. Maybe that's why I remember the angels. I had to look at them a few times while waiting for the stupid tour to MOVE!

When they eventually moved off, Shirley and me got enough room to squeeze (she didn't need to squeeze lah) past them to see the one I was searching for.

The (out-of-focus) model of the Vatican

Ok, it looks much better when you're there obviously. Makes me want to visit Rome and have tea with the Pope. Hahaha... well visit Rome at least. The whole exhibit ends off with stuff about the Pope, some Vietnamese scuplptures (that looked really odd, the crab that saved the cross lost at sea and a video of something which was blocked by the bunch of tour followers. I think Grandma and Grandpa would have enjoyed it.

That wasn't the end of our museum fun though. Although we were both hungry halfway through the Journey Of Faith, curiosity (and the Singaporean's value-for-money instinct) got the better of us, leading us to level 3. This housed the Islam and the items of various South East Asian Arts and Music. What caught our attention was actually the kids section in the two halls. There were a few games and activities that had us searching for more, bringing us back to the Chinese area only to find the game not working. The last game was in the South India section, mainly focusing on India. Unlike the rest, the ceiling of the activity room was painted with many colourful patterns.

Nice eh?

Once we were done with that game, we started on getting some free souvenirs for ourselves. I think the security guard that walked past was checking to see if we were nutcases. Who cares, as long as we had fun getting something free! Hahahaha!!!

The 2 bottom corners were ours, and the rest were other people's mess

Caught in the act... sort of

Yeah... the 2 nutcases

Our Final Masterpieces... more like crap

To end our tour, we went through the last room to find an Indian-looking Eeyore (blue horse), only to be shocked by the alarm that went off while I was taking this photo. Here I was thinking Shirley tried stealing something, while she came to ask what I did. Hahahaha!

Loads of colours but a blue horse?

The bench we were on was gumbling under our weight

To end our museum tour, we walked out to the the bridge across and take a pic of ourselves with the former Post Office.

Looks kinda fake

To view a few more pictures and read what Shirley learnt, then vist her blog.

How Much Is That Doggie In The Window...

Mom and I had a lil steamboat dinner tonight and we had a lil furry bit of company as well.

What goodies will the giant hand bring me this time??

When you have it at home, and pic out your favourite stuff to throw into the pot, it's just that much more enjoyable. Plus you don't have to dress up, or wear anything (if u're like that), for dinner.

Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble...

And with the furball around, u have a automatic vacuum cleaner cum trash disposal unit. Not that he had to clean up after us, but for being a good boy he was rewarded with a few chunks of raw beef.

It's mine! It's MINE!!

Big Mistake! HUGE!

With regards to my previous post "Asking For It"

Sometimes I wonder if the people are already dumb, or that they become dumb once they start dating. Do u become one of those they call "blinded by love"? Some become so permanently blinded by "love", or more likely just plain stupidity, that they get abused/used and still they stick with the arsehole. Some seem to have never heard the phrase "once bitten, twice shy" or maybe they're just thick-skinned.

Burnt U Once, Burnt U Twice. Third Time, Will Still Not Play Nice.

Then there are the people who are turn into some ugly person who's selfish, self-centered and unwilling to compromise. Simple matters that people don't even bother pondering over become big issues. Issues that are rather stupid can turn into deal-breakers. Why is it that u can bother to wait for a friend who's late or be willing to change the location to meet even at the last minute, without kicking up a fuss but do so when it's ur significant other? Is the other person not human? Can't the other person not make mistakes?

No one can Give everything and not Recieve nothing. Give them something at least.

Next would be the whole issue on trust. Why get into a relationship with someone if u don't even trust them as a friend? That's one weird thing to do. U still think they lie to u when they're telling the truth. The same people would also believe a lie. Stupid? I'd say so. Why can't u trust them when they go out with their friends? Do platonic relationships not exist? It's the 21st century, do not stay in the 16th.

Maybe everyone's not hetrosexual?

Weirdest bit of all - Some of u don't even have any affection for the other. WTF is that about? Some people seem to show more affection to a stray dog then they do towards their partner. Then there are those who ask for affection and seem to be happy when someone just gives that lil message to say that they still know who they're talking too. Do u have to ask for it? How can anyone asked to be loved/liked? It's totally fake and not worth anything.

You're Mad I Tell Ya... MAD

I'm Getting Old....And Losing It

BLAH!

I can't remember much about the year I was in Primary 5.

I can remember bits about kindergarten, Pr. 1 - 4, Pr. 6, but Pr. 5 is a big blur. The only thing I remember is the stupid Chinese teacher. I can't even remember the class or the form teacher.

Can anyone help me?

Seriously!

Asking For It....

This is one thing I haven't got to understand - Why ask a girl, who has never had a boyfriend, for relationship advice?

Huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh? WHY?!?

If u asked about a person's behavior or about food, I understand. Anyone can answer those questions. Ask me about keeping pets and what's wrong with them I most probably can help, unless it's a vet case. Advice for your relationship with ur boy/girlfriend?

Helllooooooooooo???? Is anyone at home?? The lights are on but there's no one iiiiiiiiiiiin!!!

Could it be that I'm not in the relationship that I can see things more clearly? But then again there are people who are in relationships that can see things as clearly as I do as they are not in ur relationship. Whatever the case for seeking me out, I realise some things about some couples. There's
  • no trust.
  • insecurity. (coupled with no trust most times)
  • no respect.
  • jealousy.
  • no affection. (????)
  • selfishness. (& a whole lot of it)
  • a meltdown of braincells at an accelerated rate. (that might not regenerate in some after they're single/married)
  • no such thing as "a compromise"
I think that's the whole list. I'll link back if I ever find something else to add on.

Blah!

Happy National Day!!

Missed it all as I was SLEEPING. Mwuahahahaha! I doubt it was any more spectacular, or truthfully not, than the one last year.

One thing about this year's celebration that's bugging me is that bloody song with Rui En & Taufik. They played it so many times on tv & radio that it's stuck in my head when I wake up sometimes.

Goodness Gracious Me!

Charmed & Dangerous

Libra

The Bottom Line

That little voice in your head might be more anxiety than anything else.

In Detail

You've got the magic touch when it comes to dealing with personal situations -- or rather, the magic ear. Your generous listening skills are just what the doctor ordered when someone comes to you with a list full of grievances although you're not the object of their ire. Just your ability to really hear what someone is saying without interruptions and opinions is a healing action full of grace that they well appreciate.

Generous Listening Skills Eh?? Leads me to my next blog topic... or rather.. TOPICS. Yep... everyone's dirty little secrets that I won't expose but will grumble about. Especially about the really dumb things people do/react to/ask when they're in relationships. Mwuahahahahahahaha!!!

Poseur Poser....

Is there any kind of gains through showing off? If u have something original, and can do it well, go ahead, by all means show the world ur skill/move. Don't copy and try to act like u're the best when all u actually are doing is IMITATING

Ok, so most people, has at one time or another, imitated their idol. I'm not saying u can't dress like ur idol or walk with a limp because they do. Just stop at acting like u're born with the accent, hand movements and slangs. If u also happen to pick up a move that not many people can, please keep it to a minimum on the dancefloor or the streets.
  1. It is a public place for everyone and not u alone.
  2. U're not the only dumbarse who knows the move.
  3. U might think u're cool but... yeah u're so NOT.
  4. On second look, u might not have even got the move down pat.
  5. Everyone thinks u're drunk or on drugs..... and u most probably are.
  6. U're not famous.... Especially not if u happen to land ur face on local TV.
The biggest lot of them would actually be the famous buggers who basically put a twist on moves made popular by older famous buggers. The key phrase being "put a twist on moves" and, more importantly, made it their own. Most of these show-offs do the same thing, but they fail miserably. Reason being they look rather retarded doing them, almost similar to a tin man with rusty hinges (and not trying to do "The Robot") . Give me an original with moves so smooth nothing can cling to them. If u're now thinking of one particular idol winner, think again. He's not original. Certified Imitatator - something similar was mentioned by the judge as well. Other things u shouldn't do -
  1. Act like u own a place when u don't.... Dressing like management doesn't make u management.
  2. Act like u're part of the PR team... Going around asking how everyone is when no one gives a shit who u are in the first place.
  3. Planning to dress like clowns when it's no-one's birthday or halloween.
  4. Thinking just because u work somewhere that u're better than other people....There's always someone better than u, just that they don't blow their horn as loud as u do!
  5. Basically thinking u're some big-snot when u aren't.... Especially with people who know what a piece of poop u really are.

If u know u can't make it, especially like certain models here, don't pull dumb stunts just to draw attention to urself. The people might laugh with u at first, but they'll be watching u, and only laugh at u later. Even more so if u're a fool and can't hold ur drinks well. Same goes for people who think that they're professional strippers and use the pole or raised platforms. Those are usually left alone for good reasons. Those who use it are either really drunk, they don't know what they're doing, or they have really thick skin (or more like cellulite). Mwuahahahaha!!!

"Bang bang.... I shot u down... Bang Bang"
