Doggy's Day Out (Sentosa to Orchard Road)

We rented a car and decided to give Barkley a treat for the day, bringing him out on his first trip to beyond the neighbourhood. He got all excited for his usual walk in the neighbourhood, but was clearly surprised, and lost, as to what was happening when he was told to get into the car. When he realised he was travelling without having to walk, he got all excited and started to enjoy sticking his head out the window to look at the world going by. Then he realised that there was more going by on the other side of the car and started to jump onto Mark to get a better look. About 10 minutes into the drive, I left him in the back seat where he got comfortable and just lay down to cool off from all his excitement.

Soon, we were in Sentosa and it was time he got to stretch his legs. We took him right up to Imbiah Lookout and let him explore civilisation. There was a guy with the python there charging for photo opportunities and soon enough, Barkley became the free alternative for some Indian tourists. Since he's such a friendly dog, they found it easy to take a picture of the whole family with him as the centre of attention. I wonder what story they'll tell their family and friends back home.

"Oh we went to this island in Singapore called Sentosa, and we took pictures with this dog for free! Imagine that... free... and that guy on the side was actually charging to take pics with a snake. I mean, look at the billions of snakes here, we can just pick one up and take a picture anyway... but a fluffy dog like that? For free??"

Hahaha! And so Barkley waited while I got my coffee fix and then we were off to check out the luge that seem like lotsa fun.

Waiting His Turn To Go Up The Revolving Tower.

Realising there was nothing much to do at the top there but stare back at the main island, we decided to make it Tanjong Beach and let him run about in the sand, and maybe dip his paws in the water and take a swim. But the sky got dark as we got to the beach and so we decided to chill at the bar instead. Barkley soon made some friends with one of the staff's pets, who were slightly afraid of this whiney, noisy dog.

Barkley easily found a comfy spot on the deck chair and was soon enjoying the cool gentle breeze and shared the plate of fish and chips we ordered. We also ordered a jug of beer and wondered if he liked some. After sniffing my finger, he took a quick lick and neer came back for seconds. However he seemed drunk when I got a picture of him infront of the jug.

After finishing the drinks and food, we decided to get some dessert and Mark suggested something from the Chatterbox. When we got there, we were disappointed with the desserts on display and decided to head back instead. Since the car was parked in Cineleisure, Barkley got his first walk on the bustling Orchard Road walkway with tourists and local shoppers alike. There was just too many people for him to pay attention or try to get the attention from just one person that he was just walking and looking around, excited and again confused.

Finally when we got home, Barkley just plopped himself on the floor and went to bed, absolutely satisfied, and tired, from the whole day.

Not A Safety Net Nor An Idiot

What do you do when a secret is leaked to you and the information it holds makes you think that your friend is going to make the biggest mistake of his/her life?

Go up to you friend and confront him/her about it? Then how do you protect the relationship between you friend and the person with the loose-lips? I'm fine if my relationship with my friend is severed but I won't be the one to break other friendships just because I have an opinion. It's quite obvious that the relationship between you and your friend isn't very stable when she/he tries to hide something that they know you will feel strongly against. Then once she/he continues to go through with the plan, am I to give up on our friendship? The reason being that I won't be the same person to lend you my shoulder to cry on or the patient listening ear anymore. You know it's obviously a bad decision and yet you go through with it, then I won't just sit around waiting to be the safety net for you to fall into.

Don't tell me you treasure our friendship when you resort to such acts. Don't tell me things you don't mean as they will eventually backfire on you. Don't think that because I need glasses that I'm blind. Don't think because you whisper that I can't hear. Don't think because I nod at what you say that I'm naive enough to believe every word as the truth. Don't think because you've got buddies everywhere that you're the only one who has easy access to information.

Don't think I'm nice.
Don't think I'm stupid.
YOU SHOULD KNOW ME BETTER THAN THAT!

So My Life Is Less Important?

There seems to be a few people in my life who think that they can take advantage of me, or just take me for granted. I'm not sure if it's the way I live my life or just the image that some people get about me from the things I do. So what is my life like right now? Well I basically have a part-time job and I am studying part-time as well. It might not sound like it's a very packed schedule when you put them apart, but think about it this way - work almost everyday, for most part of the day till 6pm, then do research or attend classes at night till 10pm. Good thing about studying and working part-time is that I have a rather flexible schedule that allows me to take short trips but that also depends a lot on my school term.

Now what sparked me off to write this post was the very person that caused me grief in my Bugger Off post. What did Bozo do? He made an appointment to meet me on the 13th so that I could pass him something for his mom and some things I got him from my trip. He was supposed to meet me at my workplace so that we could just hop over and have a burger after I was done with work. But lo and behold, I finished my shift and Bozo was no where in sight. So I gave him a call only to find out that my call actually woke him up. Instead of just telling me that he would take about an hour to get ready and get his arse down, he just tells me that he'll call me later, which, after asking, was to be a few hours later. Already pissed that he didn't even bother setting an alarm, I told him to forget it and not to meet me later as I had a last minute invite to dinner with a few ex-classmates.

I ended up staying around my workplace to talk to my colleague and it started drizzling, which made me decide to call him again to check if he could make it down within the hour. He then tells me, after rounding the mulberry bush a few times, that they made him some food and he HAS to eat it. That was it! When you make an appointment and you wake up late it's already bad enough. But when you're supposed to meet and have something to eat, then u tell me you HAVE to eat what they made you when you were in the shower then don't bother explaining to me anything, groveling or try to sweet talk me into meeting you later.

The next day while online, a conversation was started with a friend, one I most likely won't be bothered if I lost all contact with. She asked if I could have dinner with her next week and I told her I'd have to wait and see. The reason why I didn't say yes right away, although I could, was because she would've asked me to plan the whole thing and let her know. Most likely throwing in a guest list as well as I couldn't make it to a last-minute invite to dinner the evening before. Once I've settled everything, she'll end up the one who wouldn't be able to make it, telling the rest of us that she's too busy that week, or whatever excuse she can come up with. But if I do end up having dinner, I'd end up being the person working behind the desk of the "Complaints" department, instead of eating across the table from a friend. Listening to her grumble about her life and work, while on the other hand she's taking trips around the world when she has the time and money.

Back to the conversation... She then asks if I'm that busy and what I'm busy with. Seriously... Who are you to think I'm that free that I can go out any damn time YOU want when you don't even know what I do these days? Maybe I'm busy avoiding you these days? It wasn't so much the question that pissed me off. It was the whole attitude, just like Bozo's, thinking that I would be free anytime she called. Try giving me a date to work with or at least try to know what the schedule I have is like.

Unlike these 2, I've got a friend who seldom goes out with me, but every time she would contact me, it would be a specific day and time set as she knows that's the time she's free. Plus asking me 2 weeks in advance would ensure that I'd be meeting up with you. Even if half the time I meet with her I end up listening to her troubles, she at least takes the time to ask and listen about what I'm doing in life. But do others actually try? They just whine and gripe and when you try to suggest something, they already have the most pessimistic view on the situation that they just don't bother even listening to what you have to say. How lovely is a one-way conversation? It's honestly not fun for the listening ear.

I wonder if people could actually take it when the really put on my shoes and live my life. I know I live it rather casually but then if I did it any way different I'd probably be in IMH or dead rather than writing this.

Living Will

My Living Will... with reference to a previous morbid post

I, Christiana, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass Secondary school Science if their lives depended on it, or lawyers/doctors interested in simply running up the bills. If a reasonable amount of time passes, and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:

Chocolate
Peppermint On Ice
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Cold Beer
Chocolate
Pasta Aglio Olio
Seafood
Chocolate
Any Food
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Coffee
Pepper
Chocolate
Ice cream
Cup of tea
Chocolate
Diet Coke
Sex
Chocolate

It should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes, and call it a day.

Well a nice home with a big living room filled with plushy seats with a fireplace and a huge TV, lotsa windows that open up for the fresh air, even bigger kitchen with all my shiny kitchen equipment, and a bedroom big enuf to fit a king-sized bed and have giant pillows thrown around, together with my soft toys, a neat toilet with a shower, and a separate jacuzzi, plus an area for little Tigger to grow up in.

All In The Past

I've always questioned why is it that people, even though they might have just met me for the very first time, would open up and start telling me their life story, or what ever it is that is bugging them. I guess I've got used to being caught in that situation one too many times to even stop and tell the other person that I'm not a walking problem-solver nor am I a psychologist (well maybe not yet.. hehe). Then, if they still keep in contact, I basically end up listening to them whenever their life hits turbulence.

I would say I'm almost immune to all of the stories and people asking for some advice, but what I can't stand is when people complain about things, and worse is when I shouldn't be listening to it. There is a certain amount of information which should be kept private, especially if I'm related to the person. Don't expect me to be neutral when I know the both of you, and because of that, I know you are both liars that blow things out of proportion. I still don't know exactly what happened, because neither of you can tell a straight story, and both sides don't ever seem to tally.

Sometimes what happened years ago should just be kept in the past and not dug up just because of something the other person did yesterday. I don't have to be in one to know that relationships are tough to maintain as friendships are just as fragile. I also know that it takes 2 hands to clap and you would obviously know why the two of you went your separate ways. If you're so stupid as to let go of a relationship you held so dear without finding out the reason he/she decided to end it, then you obviously didn't care that much. So don't say that he/she ended the relationship and be bitter about it. Did you try to stop it when it happened or did you just agree and went on to feel sorry for yourself?

Another thing is to act like an ass and think that you were being smart/sarcastic. You would have succeeded if people actually got your sarcasm, but you are just being a fool if you had to explain your behaviour, and seem just childish when you do it in retaliation to something your ex said when he/she was just being nice. You're obviously too bitter and haven' moved on although you might have a new bf/gf. Telling yourself and the rest of the world that you've moved on doesn't mean that you really have. To move on is to let go of the past and not be affected by your ex so much you have to call me the next day to talk for hours complaining about the things he/she did to you the day before, as well as years ago.

Another thing I don't like is when people try to brag about themselves and their lives while telling me how sorry their life has been. It just doesn't go together! One minute you're telling me how sad/angry/depressed you are, and the next thing you're telling me you've accomplished a lot of things and you're happy where you are. You just contradict yourself and just seem really lost to me. Why do you think I want to hear about your accomplishments, when I didn't even ask about you in the first place? Think about it... I didn't even ask to know about you and you started telling me all the sob stories. If you've really achieved something in your life, you don't have to toot your own horn as it will speak for itself.

I can say that I'll be there for you when you need me, but don't test my patience or make me take sides when you're complaining about a relationship-gone-wrong with someone who's actually related to me. It's just not cool to put me in a situation like that if you expect me to listen to you whine again. Leave the past where is was....

Grow Up! Let Go! Move On!

If Tomorrow Never Comes

It's seems lately that people keep asking what religion I belonged to and when I told them I didn't have one, they would talk as if they want me to have one. Mind you, the "people" I'm talking about aren't even related to me, nor are they my friends. They are just random people like taxi drivers and people who get to know me through internet networking sites - basically if I know you through there, I won't consider you my friend when I've been chatting with you for an hour.

Anyhoo... I shall state here that I dislike people who try to push a religion on me, even if you think you are doing it subtly... you ought not to try at all. Once you get "too religious" for me (especially if you are my friend), I most likely will avoid you like the plague and come out from hiding, once in a blue moon, just to keep the friendship alive. Thing is, if I'm happy the way I am, what makes you think that I would think your religion is any better than the other one I've not chosen? Don't tell me you don't try to get people to join your religion and then go on telling me about how good yours is, and then telling me that I should choose one. Give me one damn good reason why I should?

One person can say that they think there's nothing wrong with other religions, and yet they would say the one they chose is the best. Now this just doesn't sit well with me - If there's nothing wrong with other religions, how can one be better than the rest? Furthermore, not all religions are the same and most of them have been passed down from one generation to another, and goodness knows what misinterpreted, deformed theories have been passed down. So who's to say what truly is right while others wrong, and what can be done while others can't.

In the end it all boils down to belief. If you believe that a certain religion is the way for you then so be it. Don't try to talk me into it, or tell me what's so great about it cos I don't want to hear about it. I know enough about myself and my beliefs to know that I will NEVER have a religion. If I should die tomorrow, just cremate me and throw my ashes in the sink, or the bin as it will eventually lead to me being buried in an island or floating out to sea with the sewage.

Definitely

You Sometimes Hold a Grudge

You aren't exactly vengeful, but you're not going to forget when someone wrongs you.
And while you'll forgive the small things, you don't hand out too many second chances to people who really screw up.

You Follow Your Head

You're rational, collected, and logical.
Generally, it takes you quite a while to fall in love.
In fact, you've even been accused of being very picky.
While you're cool, you're not ice cold.
You just know what you want, and don't mind waiting to get it.

Bugger Off!

I didn't understand why I broke down yesterday until I started yapping with Amy about the week before. With everything going on, I just didn't have time to catch up with her and I guess that was something I really needed - rather badly considering the state I ended up in. What we managed to figure out was that I've been harbouring frustrations since the 20th, and all because of one person.

On the 20th, my sis and I were invited to a friends' place for their housewarming party, that was also partly in preparation for their wedding the following week. The day itself, the bugger texts us to ask if he could come over to use the computer, knowing that our weekends were out. After being told that he couldn't because we were on our way out, he still asks if we have any plans later that night. Since he was quite close to our friends' place, I gave him a call asking if he wanted to go out and I ended up getting an earful of whining. Seriously, u can just simply say no and suggest something else. So I end up getting pissed off with Mr Whiney who has finally decided to come over to our place so he could use the computer. Then he just can't let it end there and starts to irritate the hell out of me from the back seat of the cab. And I know chivalry is almost extinct but couldn't you, knowing you'll be picking my sis and I with the cab, at least sat in the front seat? Looking at u, the driver would be more scared of u jumping him than the other way around.

A few days later, there were plans to go out with a few of my colleagues and since clubbing was better with a bunch of friends, we decided to call Mr Whiney along. All was going alright until Mark had to leave and left me with the car. The whole plan was that I just had to drop them off later at a place where it would be easier to grab a cab and I could drive myself home after. Fine with me. At the end of the night though, the plan had changed somehow. I ended up having to drive everyone home and was alright with it as long as they knew how to get back. My colleagues made it really simple, knowing every turn to their place. Whiney on the other hand said he could direct me once I got near the place but after finding the stretch of road he had said he was familiar with, he didn't know shit where to go. He didn't even have the brains to say that he could just catch a cab from somewhere so that he'll make it home quick (even after a very direct hint from my sis). Instead, he had the cheek to grumble about us not stopping at McDonald's so that he could've grabbed a bite. What pissed me off here most was that he knew I had to work in a few hours and yet he just wasted everyone's time.

The most irritating part about him is the "I-know-it-all" and the "everyone-should-drop-what-they're-doing-and-entertain-me" attitudes that he carries with him. When people do entertain u, at least take their advice on what to do, especially if it's shopping advice from a girl. Don't go insulting them and contradicting urself. That just makes u look really stupid. Don't expect everyone who know, especially those you barely know to entertain u. Don't you dare go calling my friend a "rude bitch" either. U don't know her and she doesn't owe u anything. Plus it may be a guy thing, but asking my friend to get u girls cos u want a free fuck isn't the thing I need, or want, to hear. Have u seriously got no brains in there?

Finally, I don't get what he has a cellphone for. If he wants to know what someone is doing, why can't he just call the person up? It might be my sis, but since I'm not living with her at the moment, how would I know what her schedule is. Plus if u want to know about ur mom, why don't u just call ur mom? Seriously, calling my mom to find out about urs just brands u as stupid. Might as well walk ard with the t-shirt that says "I'm with stupid" and have it pointing at ur head.

Fly Me To The Moon

You Are Very Worldly

You're an international jet setter - or pretty darn close.
And while you may feel like you have many more places to visit...
Most people live their whole lives without seeing what you've seen.
In fact, you're probably going to be traveling again soon. So Bon Voyage!
