First Cannoli

Dad and I checked out the Midland Farmers Market today as it was one of the few markets that opened long past noon. We were walking around looking at all the items they had to offer and I spotted a small table set up with a few trays of cookies. There was no one manning the table, and I decided to have a look at the rest of the fresh fruit and vegetables first as most of them were already packing up.

On our way back, I head to the table to get a pack of cookies when the lady asked, rather softly like it was a secret, if I'd like a pack of Cannoli. She said she had a few packs left and proceeded to open a styrofoam box on her left that was hidden under a cloth (very secret stash!), and upon looking at the custard-filled tubes, I just said yes.

That was one of the best decisions I made today! Crispy fired pastry tubes with smooth custard that was not too sweet, just a perfect pairing with the little sprinkle of icing sugar.

Om Nom Nom....
