I bought some Exmouth prawns while at the Kalamunda markets and finally got down to making a prawn and avocado salad on Saturday afternoon. As I peeled the prawns, I realised that the heads were full of flavour, and didn't want them wasted by just being dumped into the bin. I decided to put the heads and the rest of the shells in a pot of water and got dad to crush it all to get a nice stock.
Later, I got a few more raw prawns when we were out with Aunty Nene, and some pork bones as well. We added the more prawn shells and heads to the stock, then boiled the pork bones with it, ending up with a nice prawn noodle stock. We didn't bother with getting the proper noodles as my sister wanted us to finish the instant noodles she no longer could eat.
So instant noodles, topped with our stock, some pork (ribs for dad) and some prawns, and we had a simple Hei Mee for dinner.
Om Nom Nom....
