Peppery Soup For The Recovering Soul

I've been rather sick lately and the phlegm and snot just don't seem to want to go away. Other than having chilli and wasabi, which helps clear the sinuses, the other way was hot peppery soup. And since we bought some Yu Tiao, I fried some up to have with a nice hot bowl of Bak Kut Teh. I did it simply with garlic and pork bones, very different from my mom's overloaded version. Sliced up a few bird's eye chillies, drop them in thick dark soy sauce, and that was a perfect meal for the recovering soul int he winter cold.
