One of my first ten testers for my huge oven was a batch of huge chestnuts. It was around Christmas and I found the recipe through the internet. I followed the recipe and I ended up with a few chestnuts that exploded even before it was halfway through the cooking time. Seems like I have a super oven or I missed doing something.
Looking through more recipes, I found that piercing the chestnuts help with reducing explosions. Also, learning more about my oven helped with adjusting the temperature. So after all the piercing and temperature reduction, I only had 2 chestnuts exploding on me.
Seems like I need to do another test with even lower temperatures. Good thing I have ever eager squirrels in my family.
