Taking Old Favourites To New Levels

As mentioned before, putu piring is one of my childhood favourites and today I found something that brought them to a whole new level. Originally, there were just gula melaka, coconut (cooked in red sugar) and peanuts for filling choices. Recently, chocolate was added to the short list of fillings. The short list was decimated today when I found a list of 12 fillings at this little stall; Cempedak, Banana, Cheese, Jackfruit, Curry, Red Bean, Peanut, Pineapple, Durian, Kaya, Chocolate & Gula Melaka.

I chose the Cempedak, Cheese, Curry, Jackfruit, Pineapple, Kaya and Gula Melaka. I would say that curry is my savory favourite. It's like eating curry and rice in a two-bite pancake. The cheese came up a nice second. As for the sweet one, the kaya was really nice oozing out, but it was really too sweet, and so were the rest of the fruity fillings. The gula melaka is still my favourite, up with chocolate as a second.
